About

bcharismarathon2_btyvBarbara Charis, the author of Sharing from the Heart: a 33-year Search for the Truth began studying and experimenting with nutritional information in 1961, when her brother-in-law, a body builder and former Mr. America and Mr. Universe,  handed her several books and  advised her that doctors were NOT schooled in nutrition, and she needed to stop listening to them, and start reading & learning for herself.  As she began reading the first book, she was astonished to find the answer to one of her son’s chronic health issues, for which the doctors had done nothing but prescribe an endless array of pharmaceuticals; which had done nothing to alleviate the problem.  It was so simple, and yet not one “expert” had even hinted that the root of the problem was dietary.  From that moment on, the author was on a mission to understand the relationship between what we put into our bodies and how our bodies function and react, as well as, the link between the Rx fallacy and the myriad of future problems that were being created by their use.

In 1982 Barbara opened the Charis Holistic Center in West Los Angeles and started doing nutritional consultations.  Her goal was to help others change their lives by simply changing the way they ate. Understanding what foods were perfect for their bodies, and adhering to a more nutritious diet in order to alleviate current issues, and prevent future health problems.  Click On Testimonials for further information.

Barbara is featured in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who of American Women and Who’s Who in Medicine and Health Care.  She also was a radio-show host for The Health Beat, Los Angeles (1988-89);
The producer of the Los Angeles TV show Sharing from the Heart (1996-97); a finisher in the LA Marathons (1994, 1999 and 2004); a 33 year member of Book Publicists of Southern California; and a Life Time Member of the National Health Federation.

Barbara has spoken at the National Health Federation Conventions, Health Freedom Expo, Total Life Show, American Nutrition Society, Pierce College, Grant High School and before many other groups.

Her results have been life-changing.  She has overcome many problems by simply eliminating foods that were hurting her.  She overcame arthritis, tumorous growths, colds, constipation, depression, migraines,  sore throats, and learned that childbirth could be easier by eating right.  She had three 26 hour labors and after a major dietary change the 4th one, at age 42, was just an hour and a half.  In addition she ended her lifelong struggle with yo-yo dieting and has remained a very fit 120 lbs.  She walks between 7 and 10 miles daily.  At 76 she feels better than she felt as a teenager.

The connection between diet & disease is not a new concept.  Hippocrates knew it, as he noted that FOOD should indeed be your Medicine.  You can change your life, transform your body, prevent any number of illnesses, from the common cold to the current H1N1 by simply changing your diet.  The pharmaceutical industry would have you believe prescribed drugs are the answer to all your health problems, and dying in a hospital, hooked up to machines is the human condition, and an inevitable conclusion.  It is NOT.

The human body is a miraculous machine. If we treat it with respect and feed it right, it will truly last a lifetime, and allow us to live life to the fullest, in great health free of pain & illness, while remaining strong and supple.  The body is designed to heal itself, and with the right foods, it CAN.   You can absolutely change your life in 30 days. Let me show you how.
