It really disturbs me, when I see celebrities with milk mustaches getting paid for advertising milk. If they knew what was in that milk, would they be so glib about promoting it? Most people have been provided with information that is erroneous. They think that they are providing their bodies with a great source of calcium, vitamins, and vitality . However, this is a myth created by the dairy industry that has sold the world on the idea that “milk is for every body.”
According to a recent study published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry, scientists have found through analysis that one glass of milk can contain up to 20 different painkillers, antibiotics and growth hormones. (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021 ). These medicinal residues, found in samples of cow, goat and human breast milk are from a variety of chemicals used to treat animal and human illness. This research revealed that cow, goat and human breast milk tested for traces of numerous anti-inflammatory drugs such as niflumic acid, mefenamic acid, flunixin, ibuprofen, diclofenac and fetoprotein – all of which are commonly used pain killers for animals and humans.
Traces of other drugs, such as lipid regulators, anti-epiletics, beta-blockers, antibiotics and various hormones (such as ethinylestradiol and estrone) were found as well. A total of 20 pharmacologically active substances were found in the various types of milk in the study. The highest quantities of drug residues and hormones were found in cow’s milk. Researchers used an extremely sensitive testing method, called Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectometry, in order to ensure the testing was successful and accurate. According to an online article (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetesting ) , the milk tested also contained the hormone 17-beta estradiol, a form of the sex hormone oestrogen.
This hormone was detected at three millionths of a gram per kilogram of milk, while the highest dose of niflumic acid was less than one millionth of a gram per kilogram of milk. The scientists running the test, led by Evaristo Ballesteros from the University of Jaen in Spain, said that their testing method could also be used to check the safety of other types of food.
The amount of these drugs found in milk may have been minute; however, the research results make it entirely too clear how prevalent man-made substances, drugs and chemicals really are in our food chain. Researchers believe that the growth-promoting hormones and drugs are all given to cattle and cows at some point, or are often present within contaminated cattle feed. But wait, there’s more. It is sufficient to say, everything you know about cow’s milk is most likely part of a dairy industry myth. In general, cow’s milk today is a tainted bodily fluid coming from diseased animals – and it contains a wide range of dangerous and disease-causing substances. Here are some further reasons to avoid it altogether.
Milk can cause and worsen cancer. As cow’s milk (both regular and organic) has 59 active hormones, countless allergens, lots of fat (unless it is skim) and cholesterol. Most cow’s milk also has perceptible quantities of herbicides, pesticides, dioxins (up to 200 times the safe levels), up to 53 powerful antibiotics, blood, pus, feces, bacteria and viruses ( http://www.rense.com/general26/truth ). This milk can potentially have traces of anything the cow ate or was exposed to during its lifespan, including such things as residue from radioactive materials.
Of those 59 mentioned hormones, one is a powerful growth hormone called insulin-like Growth Factor ONE (igf-1). This hormone is essentially a “fuel cell” for any cancer. It has been proven that IGF-1 is the key factor in the growth and proliferation of every breast cancer; the medical world has clearly stated that IGF-1 is not only a key factor in the rapid growth and increase of prostate and colon cancers, but is suspect to promote and worsen ALL cancers, including those that are existing.
This is especially significant considering nearly 40% of women between the ages 40 and 50 have existing cancers in their breasts. The naturally-occurring hormone is identical in humans and cows, and every 12 ounce glass of milk doubles the amount of this hormone in your body. IGF-1 is linked not only to rising cancer rates, but the growth of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
IGF-1 is a normal part of all milk – and while newborns are supposed to grow rapidly, what makes the 50% of obese American consumers (or any adult consumer in general) think they need substances that cause more growth? If the residual hormones in milk aren’t enough to scare you away from milk, surely the amount of other drugs, man-made chemicals, and dioxins will.
According to the World Health Organization, approximately 90% of the dioxins entering the human body come from dairy products and meat. Considering dioxins are some of the most toxic chemicals known to science, and the EPA has published a report confirming they are cancer hazards to humans, should we really be purposely ingesting substances known to contain them?
Milk is Not a Good Source of Calcium, contrary to popular belief. Commercially sold milk is not the best way to obtain calcium. According to (www.not milk.com), American women have been consuming an average of two pounds of milk per day throughout the course of their lives, yet 30 million American women have osteoporosis. Ingesting dairy products and drinking milk does not prevent bone loss; in fact,, bone loss is expedited by consuming an excess of protein, and milk has often been labeled “liquid meat.”
After all, where do cows get calcium for their big bones? You guessed it…from plants! The calcium they consume from plants has a large amount of magnesium, which is necessary for the body to absorb and actually use the calcium properly.
The calcium in cow’s milk, and in other dairy products in general, is basically useless because it has insufficient magnesium content. Those nations with the highest amount of milk and dairy consumption also has the highest rates of osteoporosis. Proof? How about a controlled study of 78,000 nurses over a period of 12 years.? ( http://www.notmilk.com/deb/030799.html ) In this Harvard study, women that were consuming greater amounts of dairy foods had significantly increased risks of hip fractures, while there was no recorded increase in fracture risk observed for the same levels of calcium from non-dairy sources.
The text of the anti-dairy advertising campaign from the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) specifically reads, “Don’t count on milk to beat osteoporosis.” This ad mentions the Harvard nurse study and how it proved drinking a few glasses of milk per day did not reduce fractures at all. PCRM’s ad campaign is based upon two studies, one published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, and the other in the American Journal of Public Health. The campaign from PCRM refreshingly counteracts the infamous dairy industry “GOT MILK” ad nonsense.
Giving up dairy products, in other words, does not increase one’s chances of suffering from a lack of calcium. What it does do is decrease the amount of synthetic chemicals, drugs, and harmful hormones being consumed. Good non-dairy sources of calcium include leafy green vegetables, such as spinach, kale, beet greens, collard greens, carrot juice, sardines, and more. The food standards for calcium have been set unnaturally high, so people can ingest more dairy and food supplements. The WHO (World Health Organization) recommended 400 – 500 grams many years ago….and now we are being told that 1200 grams daily is the standard. If it were the lower amount and we were eating more raw foods containing calcium we would not need the RDA set today. Using 1200 grams daily of the wrong food and substances can bring on osteoporosis.

Probiotics can be found that are totaly superior to fermented foods.; fermented food that is decomposing and past its prime – has a multitude of bacteria breaking it down. Dr. Norman Walker who was a health researcher and lived well over the century mark – did not believe in fermented food. Soured milk, such as yogurt and kefir is in the same category – It is not recommended. It contains all of the negative pesticides, antibiotics, hormones, etc. These foods are not to be considered longevity foods. Information that brought it to the fore – did not come from meticulous researh. It came from hype and supposition.
My first 12 years (started during the Great Depression) – and there was a scarcity of food. There was no milk to drink. However, I never experienced a broken bone and I had many falls as I was a very adventurous child. I climbed trees, roofs, walls and even danced on skates. I played touch football on the street, rode a bike and did many other sports. I found it is better to eat less than eat too much of the wrong food…dairy. A good friend who lived across the street had milk daily – and suffered a broken arm, when he had a fall and his skate ran over his arm. It entered my consciousness early that dairy wasn’t necessary for good health.
People are told that eating dairy and high protein will aid in weight loss. I never found this to be true. I couldn’t lose weight until I stopped the dairy and meat. I stopped eating dairy in 1976, when I got the tumor that was regressed by stopping the dairy. I was 42 at the time. I went through menopause at 56 without any problems; not one hot flash. I never used any kind of HRT. If women weren’t overloaded with excess protein from the dairy and meat that they are ingesting – they wouldn’t be throwing their hormones out of balance.
I have spoken to a number of other women who have told me the same thing. They avoided dairy and ate very little meat or none at all. It is interesting to find that science is finally catching up with the information that I was given years ago. I found the answers I needed, because I went direct for answers. When one asks for an answer, it will come…if one totally trusts. In the early seventies someone sent me a phrase in the mail…said to write it 100 times on a sheet of paper…and make 20 copies. I was told to send it to 20 people. The phrase was Trust in the Lord with all your heart, all your mind and all your soul.
Do we need drugs, chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, animal hormones, man-made hormones and more in our food supply? By avoiding dairy products we avoid many nasty elements. I would suggest using coconut or hemp milk. There are frozen desserts made with coconut milk that are incredible. Once you try Sharon’s Coconut frozen sorbet…you will never have a craving for ice cream again. I know that people need to have treats and Sharon’s desserts are far better than regular ice cream made with cow’s milk.
Nobody is going to eat 100% perfect, but one would never get sick, if one avoided the specific foods that create disease. I went 13 years without a cold or sore throat, when I avoided dairy…and as a teenager and young married woman, I used to get colds and sore throats frequently, because I was eating dairy. I got the tumor in 1976, after 3 months of eating too much dairy on the advice of a nutritionist. It was regressed, when I was guided to stop the dairy. I learned on my own body. I want this information to get out to as many people as possible, because it is a sin that one out of every three people will get cancer. Since most doctors don’t want to study a subject that would cure cancer…people need to take control of their own lives. I certainly couldn’t wait for a doctor to tell me how to cure my cancer. I would have been long gone by now.
The information in this blog could save lives, if people were willing to break their addiction to dairy and other foods that are detrimental to health. It is difficult for people to get the concept that “good” food can create disease. Many doctors have almost no knowledge of nutrition, so they don’t advise patients in regard to their diets. Because of this lack of information, their patients will not find the cures they are seeking. How can a person get better, if the right nutritional information is not given them? The wrong foods are responsible for disease – 95% of the time.
